Summer Labwork in Taiwan

With the purpose of providing students an opportunity to do internship abroad, as well as acquiring requisite skills and experience before graduation, Applied Sciences Faculty organizes Summer Labwork in Taiwan for high-quality students from 25 July to 7 August 2016.

In this program, students were studied in mordern laboratories at Chinese Cultural University with many experiments including pure line culture of E. coli, plasmid DNA isolation, electrophoresis with agarose-EtBr, molecular cloning, quantitative real-time PCR, basic of plant tissue culture, polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (PAGE), mass spectrometry, UPLC-MS, ICP-MS. In this training program, students also had a field trip to Yi-Lan Kavalan Whisky (Kingcar company), the first local company devoted in brewing Taiwan whiskey, which has a professional and senior R&D team, the abundant manufacturing management resources, and modifying the foreign distilling methods accordingly, it was able to make use of the technology to its highest efficiency. In addition, students also have a wonderful trip to North coast.

Uyen Khanh, a student joined in this program, said: “This is an interesting and helpful for biotechnology students. I was practiced with modern machines and advanced technniques, studied and lived in a dynamic environment with modern facilities. I also have more opportunities to work with professors in Taiwan, so I could open mind for building my future. In addition, I feel more confident when communication in English with foreigners. For my friends who still confusing or shy to speak English, please do not hesistate to participate in this program. This is such a great chance for you to improve English, lab skill as well as create a new friendship oversea.”
