Students of the Faculty of Applied Sciences participate in the competition: "International Medical Biochemistry 2024" (IMBC 2024)

The International Medical Biochemistry Competition 2024 (IMBC 2024) is an academic competition in Medical Biochemistry, organized specifically for students majoring in health sciences. Organized by Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy, the contest aims to give students the opportunity to improve their knowledge and teamwork skills, arousing enthusiasm, and love for learning.
This year, IMBC 2024 was held from June 20 - 23, 2024 at Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy. In this competition, there were 102 contestants participating and divided into 34 teams. Team members come from 5 countries: Myanmar, Austria, Thailand, India, and Vietnam.
The exam content focuses on Biochemistry knowledge including topics of medical biochemistry such as chemistry, protein, glucose, and lipid metabolism; Clinical Biochemistry knowledge includes the ability to analyze blood indicators, lipids, etc. of patients; Knowledge of recognizing patient symptoms to determine the cause of the disease and the most appropriate treatment. The contest consists of 3 rounds: Qualifying round: Candidates take a multiple-choice paper test of 60 questions individually. The results will be used to determine the 16 teams in the next round; Semi-final round: 16 selected teams will take a 20-question paper test in group format to select the 4 teams with the highest scores; Final round: 4 teams will compete directly to answer questions on different topics to determine the final ranking.
Although this is the first time the Faculty of Applied Sciences participates in the "2024 International Medical Biochemistry Competition", there are certainly difficulties in preparation and review, but the Students of the Faculty of Applied Sciences of Ton Duc Thang University, including Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Hien and Mr. Phuong Thanh Khai, excellently brought home the prestigious awards of 02 Bronze Medals.
