The cooperation ceremony between Faculty of Applied Sciences and Les Vergers du Mekong
Les Vergers du Mékong is a French company specializing in the processing of post-harvest products. Since 2000, the company has begun their cooperation with Vietnamese farmers to produce delicious coffee, rare teas, fruit juices, fresh fruit juices and rich honey. The company brings all of its effort in providing nutritious and safe food for both France and Vietnam. Since the very beginning of the days in Vietnam, Les Vergers du Mékong has its interests and concentration in agricultural development. Today, Les Vergers du Mékong is processing about 2,000 tons of fruit from more than 800 farmers with the goal of doubling the production in the next three years.
On 07/11/2016, the Faculty of Applied Science - Ton Duc Thang University (TDTU) and Les Vergers du Mékong Company has signed a Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation Agreement (MUCA) with the project “The sustainable research of ecological agriculture in fruit production at the Mekong Delta ". The main purpose of the project is to address and solving the current environmental issues related to the development of the Mekong Delta as well as facing the future challenges and prevent the negative impacts of climate change. The project's main research aims to implement agro-ecological experiments with environmentally friendly methods to improve and develop disease management programs that help improves the efficiency of local crops manufacturing areas.
This project will help Les Vergers du Mékong provides a sustainable fruit supply chain and safe farming methods of innovation, which also give the farmer an opportunity to increase their working experiences and income. Throughout the project, members of the Faculty of Applied Sciences shall join in the work with a real-world environment condition, therefore, the education method and research expertise would have a great chance to provide expected and significant results.
